Online Safety
At Charles Kingsley’s CE Primary School, keeping children safe online is a core part of our safeguarding commitment. We work together with children, parents and carers to ensure that every child becomes a confident, respectful and responsible digital citizen.
Keeping Yourself Safe Online
Using the internet can be fun, educational and a great way to stay in touch with friends but it’s also important to stay safe. The following guidance helps pupils and families make positive choices online.
Key Safety Tips for Children
- Always be careful when using the internet. Think before you click.
- If something online makes you feel uncomfortable, worried or upset, tell an adult straight away. Help is always available at school.
- Talk to your parents, carers or teachers about what you are doing online. Being open helps you stay safe.
- Keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don’t know asks to connect, tell an adult immediately.
- Know how to use the CEOP reporting button if you are concerned about someone’s behaviour online.
How We Teach Online Safety
We help children develop the skills they need to stay safe online through a planned e-safety curriculum, delivered through Computing and RSHE lessons.
Our online safety teaching covers:
- Content: Understanding what is appropriate, reliable and safe online.
- Contact: Knowing how to stay safe from unwanted or unsafe interactions.
- Conduct: Encouraging responsible and respectful behaviour online.
- Commerce: Recognising risks such as scams, adverts and in-app purchases.
These lessons are planned to be age-appropriate, regularly updated, and reinforced throughout the year.
Reporting Concerns
If you or anyone you know is worried about Child Exploitation, Online Protection, or anything related to internet safety, you can use the CEOP reporting button:
More Tips for Staying Safe Online
